I have over 12 years experience as a graphic designer and illustrator. Prior to starting up on my own (in August 2001) I worked as creative director / lead designer for a London-based new media design company. I specialised in user interface design for online and interactive projects, and corporate identity design.

I work hand-in-hand with my clients to assess their project requirements and arrive at the best possible solution for them (within budget!), providing a personal, one-to-one service throughout the process. I firmly believe that simplicity and ease of use for the end-user are key aspects of a successful online or interactive project and I aim to achieve this in the design solutions I present to my clients. Quality and attention to detail are very important to me. Where applicable, I will work with partners to provide complex coding & programming solutions and website domain & hosting services. To ensure your project runs smoothly, I project manage the entire process from concept to completion.

My clients include individuals, small and independent businesses, as well as larger international companies. I have completed work for clients in London, New York, Cape Town, Bahrain and across the UK. Please see the ‘work’ section of my website for examples of some recent and past projects.

I studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town working in the following subject areas: painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, drawing, graphic design (my major), History of Art and Theory of Art; and graduated with a BA (Honours) Fine Art degree, with a first-class pass in Graphic Design. My degree gave me a firm understanding of traditional materials and image making techniques, as well as the history & theory of art and design. This strong traditional foundation, and a passion for great art and design, continues to inform the work I do whether it be a hand-painted illustration, interface designs for an interactive CD-Rom project, or the development of a corporate identity. I have expertise in a wide range of software applications including, but not restricted to, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand and PowerPoint (if I must :-).

I continue to learn, enhance skills and expand my creative practice both through the client & personal projects I work on and through continued study, attending short and longer part-time courses on subjects such as Photography/Dark Room Practice (Westminster Kingsway College), Book Illustration (Chelsea College of Art), Life Drawing (Tate Britain, Camberwell College of Art), Bookbinding etc.

I am currently based in Amsterdam, having spent the previous ten years in London. Both cities allow access to many of the world's greatest collections of art and design, providing a constant source of inspiration and a great way to recharge the creative batteries!
